The former adult film star, now a University of Miami student, appeared briefly on camera in the closing moments of the Hurricanes’ six-point loss at Hard Rock Stadium. The shot lingered on a visibly frustrated fan in the stands. Viewers recognized her instantly. Social media did the rest.
Born Amirah Day, the 30-year-old has become a familiar face at Hurricanes games this season as Miami pushed toward what would have been its sixth national championship appearance. By Tuesday, Day issued an apology via TMZ, saying the attention was unwanted.
“I would give anything in the world to not have ESPN film me,” she said. “I am so deeply sorry to anyone I offended with my attendance at the game.”
Despite the backlash, Day continued posting to her 9.5 million Instagram followers, sharing emotional reaction videos from the stadium as Indiana celebrated. Fighting tears, she defended Miami’s place in the final and insisted the team were still winners.
Throughout the season, Day has stressed that her fandom isn’t performative. She was raised in Miami, attended school minutes from campus, and says Hurricanes football has always been part of her life.
This wasn’t her first on-air appearance — she was also shown during Miami’s December playoff win over Texas A&M — but this time she appeared keen to step away from the spotlight attached to her former career.
Now studying law, Day says she wants something simple: to sit in the stands, wear orange and green, and be treated like any other student backing her team.
“I wish I could be any other fan,” she said.
