Bella Hadid Explains Why She Struggled to Close the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

At the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Bella Hadid’s final walk sparked a storm of speculation. Fans noticed the model slowing her pace, gripping her silver wings, her usually precise stride giving way to something heavier — human.

Hadid later explained why. “Ok, we’re not going to pretend these wings weren’t 50 pounds, but HOW BEAUTIFUL,” she wrote in a now-deleted Instagram Story, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 29-year-old opened the night in a red lingerie set, moving with her usual precision as Karol G performed live. But when she returned to close the show, draped in metallic fringe and silver wings that could double as gym equipment, gravity got the better of grace. She kept her composure, never breaking the fantasy, but the strain showed in her careful steps and lowered gaze.

Online, fans voiced concern that her struggle might be tied to her ongoing battle with Lyme disease. “She was struggling,” one TikTok user wrote. Another added, “I thought she was gonna fall.” Others defended her, saying the wings alone explained everything — after all, the closing Angel’s look is designed to be a spectacle, not a comfort.

Hadid’s appearance came just weeks after her mother, Yolanda Hadid, shared photos of Bella’s recent hospital stay. In the images, Bella appeared drained but defiant — hooked to IVs, hands covering her face, enduring another round in a long fight that started with her 2013 diagnosis.

Yolanda, 61, called her daughter a “badass” and a “survivor.” She wrote, “No child is supposed to suffer in their body with an incurable chronic disease. I admire your bravery and your willingness to keep fighting for health despite the failing protocols and countless setbacks you’ve faced.”

For Bella, the wings may have been heavy, but not heavier than what she’s been carrying for years.
