Pop star Britney Spears was arrested Wednesday night in Ventura County on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to law-enforcement sources.
The singer was pulled over around 9:30 p.m. in Westlake Village, a quiet stretch of suburbia not far from her home. Officers from the California Highway Patrol placed Spears in handcuffs at the scene.

Authorities say she was transported to a nearby hospital shortly after the stop, where officers conducted a blood draw to determine her blood alcohol content. Spears was not injured; the hospital visit was purely procedural.
She was later booked by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office around 3 a.m., according to inmate records, and released roughly three hours later.
Shortly after news of the arrest surfaced, Spears’ Instagram account was deleted, adding another twist to the overnight developments surrounding the singer.
The arrest comes just weeks after Spears secured a permanent restraining order against a man from Louisiana who allegedly appeared at her Los Angeles-area home after posting a series of disturbing messages online.

Spears has encountered legal trouble before. In 2007 she faced misdemeanor charges following an alleged hit-and-run involving a parked car in Los Angeles. The charges were eventually dropped after she paid the owner for damages, and a mistrial was declared in a related case involving driving without a California license.
That turbulent stretch also saw Spears lose custody of her two sons with former husband Kevin Federline after a series of highly publicized incidents tied to substance abuse concerns.
For now, the latest chapter reads like another late-night traffic stop in Southern California—quiet streets, flashing lights, and a pop icon once again facing scrutiny.
The story is still developing.
