Nearly fifty years after her second marriage ended, music icon Cher is reportedly gearing up to tie the knot with Alexander “AE” Edwards, 39, just ahead of her milestone 80th birthday in May.
The Mirror cites a source saying, “Cher doesn’t give a hoot about their [40-year] age difference and they’re both ready to commit to each other,” adding that the singer sees the occasion as the perfect moment to formalize their relationship.
Cher’s representatives, however, told Page Six that a similar report from The Sun is “not true.”
The singer has never shied from ignoring outside judgment about the age gap. On a November appearance on CBS Mornings, she brushed off critics. “Whatever… They’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast,” she told host Gayle King.
She described Edwards as someone who doesn’t let numbers dictate the relationship. “You know, you get older, but your spirit is younger,” he tells her, she said.
After three years together, Cher’s affection is clear: “We laugh all the time. I just love him… I think he’s beautiful. He’s really talented. He’s one of the most talented persons I’ve ever met.”
