Chrissy Teigen isn’t hiding behind the curtain anymore. The model and entrepreneur, now 39, has opened up about her use of Ozempic — not as a confession, but as a continuation of her long-running campaign for brutal honesty in a world addicted to gloss.
Speaking on the Self-Conscious podcast, Teigen explained that her decision to discuss the weight-loss medication came after the miscarriage of her son Jack in 2020 — a period she describes as one of deep personal collapse. “My body was completely stuck,” she said. “I really let myself indulge when I was pregnant. So when I lost that baby at 20 weeks, I had probably gained an extra 40 pounds that I wasn’t comfortable with.”

It wasn’t vanity, she insists. It was about reclaiming control — about transparency. “Since the beginning of social media, I’ve always wanted people to know that things weren’t as fluffy and beautiful as they may seem,” Teigen said. “I knew it would really resonate and make a lot of people feel a lot better about their families, themselves, their own bodies.”
Teigen’s relationship with her audience has always been an open one — sometimes painfully so. She’s made a career out of pulling back the curtain on celebrity perfection, and this latest revelation fits that mould. She said she wants her honesty to give others permission to be real, especially her own children with husband John Legend. “I would want my daughter Luna — or son, if Miles wants to venture into hair plug territory — to know it’s not about pretending to be perfect. It’s about being open and honest about what makes you feel better.”

Teigen knows that vulnerability doesn’t sell as well as perfection — but she’s betting on truth. “It’s not about striving for perfection,” she said. “People are going to make their own decisions about their bodies and what makes them feel healthy and safe and proud. Everybody has a right to do those things.”
In a culture built on filters and façades, Teigen’s refusal to play the game feels less like oversharing and more like a public service — a reminder that honesty, while unfashionable, is still the rarest luxury of all.
