Emily Ratajkowski isn’t swearing off men. She’s just done prioritizing them.
In a new interview with Elle UK, the 34-year-old model and author laid it out plainly: straight men don’t really factor into her day-to-day life unless she’s dating them. “I still like men,” she said. “I just have zero straight men in my life, unless they’re a romantic interest.”
It’s not bitterness—it’s boundaries. Ratajkowski described the shift as “really wonderful,” explaining that men now occupy the top of her metaphorical needs pyramid, but no longer the foundation. “They’re pleasure and fun,” she said, “but not a part of my core.”

That core, she explained, is made up of women and queer people—a conscious community she’s built while navigating single motherhood and a public post-divorce chapter. She shares a son, Sylvester Apollo Bear, with her ex-husband, film producer Sebastian Bear-McClard.
This isn’t her first time talking about it. In a 2023 interview with HommeGirls, Ratajkowski said she was experiencing single life for the first time in years and had no regrets about ditching mediocrity. “Younger me would’ve settled for some mid dude just to have a boyfriend,” she said. “Glad I’m not in that era anymore.”

She’s open to dating, regardless of gender. Mutual friends help with vetting. And yes, she’d “love to” date a woman. “I’ve always been someone who’s more attracted to vibe than specifics of physicality,” she said. “Sometimes it’ll just randomly hit me and I’ll be like, ‘Whoa, I’m attracted to this person.’”
No grand declarations. Just a recalibration. Ratajkowski isn’t rejecting desire—she’s just not letting it run the show.
