Katseye may be lining up their biggest move yet.
After fronting Gap’s global campaign set to Kelis’ 2003 hit “Milkshake,” a spot that went viral and reintroduced the track to a new generation, members Manon and Sophia say they’re ready for the real thing: a collaboration with the singer herself.
“I have a feeling it’s going to come,” Manon said in a joint interview with Sophia while promoting the group’s Invisalign partnership. “She’s been supportive online and that has felt really nice. So, she’s aware.”
For Sophia, 22, “Milkshake” is more than a pop relic. She first knew it through Mean Girls, where the track cemented itself in the cultural bloodstream. “When they told us it was the song, we were like, ‘That is gonna eat,’” she said. “It’s so iconic.”
The Gap campaign wasn’t a quick job. Choreographer Robbie Blue built the routine before the group even touched the floor, adjusting constantly until the moves landed. “He was just creating this magic,” Sophia recalled. “Even in rehearsals, it was changing. He wanted the best fit for every part.”
The production was massive. Shot over three days, the campaign saw Katseye styled in custom Gap looks designed for the spot. The outfits aren’t going anywhere. “It’s in my room, in my closet. You’re not taking it back from me,” Sophia said. Manon agreed: “I’m not giving it up.”
“It might be the biggest set we’ve ever been on,” Manon added. “We got the full treatment. It didn’t feel like work — it felt like a dream.”
The group’s personal style is as distinct as their stage presence. Manon leans casual — sweatpants, tank tops, the occasional miniskirt — while Sophia brings a polished, high-glam edge. “You’re giving rich, elegant royalty,” Manon told her bandmate. Sophia shot back: “She gives me model-off-duty. She is the outfit.”
The partnership with Invisalign has added another layer of confidence. “I had a big head brace as a child,” Manon admitted. “So having Invisalign and straightening my teeth without anyone noticing is a blessing.”
With a viral campaign under their belt, a growing fashion footprint, and Kelis watching from the sidelines, Katseye’s next move might be their sharpest yet.
