Kim Kardashian has moved to shut down rumours of a falling out with longtime friend Jonathan Cheban, saying the pair remain close despite spending far less time together than they once did.
Appearing on Khloe in Wonder Land, the 45-year-old reality star addressed speculation that her relationship with Cheban—better known to fans as Foodgod—had quietly fizzled out. According to Kardashian, the distance is logistical, not personal.
“I love Jonathan,” she said. “I think people think we don’t talk.”
Kardashian explained that their lives have simply moved in different directions. As a mother of four—North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm—her priorities have shifted, while Cheban continues to live a fast, mobile lifestyle.
“Jonathan and I are good,” she said. “I had kids and it’s really hard to maintain friendships when you’re in it like that. Jonathan’s not going to sit around Calabasas all day. He’s always on the move.”
Khloé Kardashian backed up the sentiment, pointing to the long history between them and acknowledging that adult friendships don’t always look the way they once did.
Despite fewer public appearances together, Cheban remains part of the Kardashian inner circle. He attended Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday celebration in November, and during the podcast Kim casually FaceTimed him to underline the point. Cheban, now 51, confirmed he’s still in regular contact with the family and called the party “one of the best” he’d been to in years.
The conversation also drifted back to the early days of Kardashian’s fame, when she and Cheban were still learning how celebrity worked—and how to bend it. Kim recalled a night in New York when the pair hitched a ride in a Rolls-Royce to a hotel where Britney Spears was rumoured to be staying.
Paparazzi swarmed, assuming Kardashian was there to see Spears. Cheban, ever the tactician, told her to keep quiet and play along. The result, Kim said, was a brief but effective illusion that landed them across gossip pages.
“We totally scammed the system,” she admitted. “And we thought we were killing it.”
Cheban’s influence on Kardashian’s media instincts didn’t stop there. She credited him with giving her one of her earliest lessons in image control—advising her to stop smiling in photos and adopt a more reserved look, inspired by Victoria Beckham.
Years later, the friendship may be quieter and less visible, but Kardashian’s message was clear: there’s no feud, no fallout, just two people who grew up, got busy, and didn’t feel the need to announce every chapter change along the way.
