Lauren Goodger Faces Cosmetic Regret, Eyes a Return to Natural Beauty 15 Years After TOWIE Debut

Fifteen years have passed since The Only Way Is Essex first put Lauren Goodger under the nation’s microscope. Back in 2010, she was part of a fresh-faced cast whose Brentwood lives were suddenly everyone’s business. Glamour, gossip, and high-profile romances came fast—and so did the choices that would redefine her appearance.

Now 38, Goodger is candid about the toll those choices have taken. Cosmetic surgery that once promised confidence has left her questioning the results. “I’ve ruined my looks with surgery. I hate my fake boobs and bum now,” she admitted. “I feel like my body looks abnormal. I don’t need these massive boobs and massive bum.” Standing in front of the mirror, she sees “lumps and bumps everywhere,” a stark contrast to the Essex glamour that first captured public attention.

Her rise to fame was entwined with her high-profile relationship with co-star Mark Wright, now married to Michelle Keegan. After leaving TOWIE in 2012 and a brief return in 2016, she rejoined the show last year, framing it as a deliberate step back into public life.

Over the years, Goodger’s beauty journey has been extensive. A 2011 rhinoplasty followed a broken nose; a 2013 breast augmentation took her from 34D to 34E; and 2017 brought a Brazilian bum lift in Turkey, which she now openly regrets. “I’m not sure how I’m going to do that yet,” she said. “I’m looking into potentially getting the fat sucked out, but I don’t know if that’s an option. I’m going to speak to lots of different surgeons and figure out my options.” The BBL, she says, was “the worst experience” of her life, and now she’s determined to return to a more natural figure.

Lip fillers have also played a part in her evolution, including the 2023 “butterfly effect” trend. Anxiety has complicated the journey, previously stopping her from making more permanent changes and even traveling abroad. In an Instagram post, she opened up about that struggle and her current plans: “I want to take the step to get my implants removed in my boobs… I do not want them. I just need to get this done. I can’t wait for my natural boobs back.”

From Essex glamour girl to a woman reclaiming her body, Goodger is navigating the fallout of fame and cosmetic decisions with honesty. Each procedure reversed is a step closer to the natural self she’s been chasing for more than a decade—a careful undoing of the past, one surgery at a time.
