Lizzo has never been one to hold back — and that hasn’t changed as her body has.
In a new Women’s Health profile, the 37-year-old singer opened up about her recent weight loss, addressing the speculation and backlash that’s followed her every step of the way. “I like how I look now,” she said. “I still think I’m big. I’m still wearing plus-size clothing. I’ve got the same belly, the same thighs — I think I’m just a smaller version.”
The Truth Hurts artist made clear she’s not interested in defending her body to anyone. “Body positivity has nothing to do with staying the same,” she said. “It’s the radical act of daring to exist loudly and proudly in a society that told you you shouldn’t.”

As for the process? Ongoing. “It’s okay to release weight. It’s okay to gain weight after you’ve released weight,” she said. “What you’re not going to do is shame me if my body changes again.”
Since first sharing her transformation in 2023, Lizzo’s been hit with constant rumors — mostly around Ozempic and possible surgery. She’s denied both. “If I did all of this on Ozempic, if I did all this with surgery, I would be just as proud,” she said. “This sh*t is hard. Existing isn’t easy.”
Back in June, she told the Just Trish podcast that she’d briefly tried Ozempic, but quit because it didn’t work for her. “Ozempic works because you eat less food, yeah? But if you can just do that on your own — mind over matter — it’s the same thing.”
Lizzo’s also had no issue clapping back at online trolls. When a fan left a crude comment last year asking if her weight loss was due to drugs or injections, she replied simply: “Why do you follow me?”
Earlier this month, she laid it out for everyone: no secret, no shortcut. “I work my ass off,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “Training three times a week, daily sauna and cardio, animal protein, a chef who meal preps, calorie deficit, no sugary Starbucks or soda or chips. I quit drinking — for a while.”
That last part has shifted. “I’m drinking again,” she added. “Because I earned it.”
Whether or not people like the change is irrelevant. She didn’t do it for them.
