Looking Back: I’m A Celeb Star GK Barry Exposes UK Porn Industry and Swings Into Britain’s Biggest Club

Back in December 2025, GK Barry, the I’m A Celebrity alum turned TV presenter, made her documentary debut with Faking It, taking viewers inside the often-hidden world of Britain’s porn industry. Now, looking back, the project stands out for its unflinching honesty and curiosity.

Barry, whose partner is Portsmouth midfielder Ella Rutherford, went beyond headlines and Instagram reels, visiting the UK’s largest swingers club and interrogating creators at what’s been dubbed “Porn Star University.” She pressed on what’s real versus staged in performances, unpacking the mechanics behind what millions consume online.

The 26-year-old social media star brought humour and bluntness to sensitive subjects—body image, addiction, consent—while speaking with performers like Andy Lee, Katy Summers, and former porn addict Josh Lane. She asked the questions many quietly wonder: Can anyone really separate porn from real intimacy? Who holds the responsibility—creators or viewers? Can porn ever be authentic?

Speaking at the time, Barry reflected on the experience: filming was “one of the most eye-opening things I’ve ever done.” She spoke of young people’s early exposure to porn, the guilt and comparison it breeds, and the immense pressure on performers to look and act a certain way. Conversations with those struggling with addiction marked a turning point, revealing the blurred lines between staged performance and real intimacy.

Faking It gave Barry a taste for investigative work. “I’ve always loved watching documentaries,” she said, “but this experience made me realise how important it is to look into the topics people think about but don’t talk about.”

Looking back, the documentary offered a rare lens into a world few see up close—part exposé, part reckoning—and cemented Barry’s role as a presenter willing to dig where others hesitate.
