Paige Spiranac has no time for the dress code police.
On the red carpet for the Happy Gilmore 2 premiere in New York this week, the former pro golfer and current internet lightning rod didn’t just show up—she made a point. Decked out in a sheer red gown, Spiranac addressed the ongoing noise around her body-hugging golf attire with a calm shrug and a clear message.
“My main message is always do what you want to do, wear what you want to wear,” the 32-year-old said. “For me, that’s things that are a little sexier, more form-fitting. It’s about finding your own style.”

Spiranac isn’t new to this fight. She played Division I golf at Arizona and San Diego State, turned pro, and then quickly became a magnet for controversy—not for her swing, but for her wardrobe. Tank tops, leggings, no collars. Golf traditionalists panicked. The online crowd piled on. But Spiranac held her ground.
“When I went pro, I was always forced to wear something that didn’t feel comfortable,” she said. “So I changed that. I wear what I like. I feel good in it. I’m not trying to disrespect the game—I’m just not interested in hiding my body because some people are uncomfortable with it.”
She’s been vocal about body confidence before. Last year, she posted a shot in a short skirt that drew fire for what she jokingly called “booty cleavage.” Her response? Measured, but direct. “I think it’s quite tame. This picture is cute.”

At this point, Spiranac is less of a golfer and more of a brand. One built not just on looks, but on saying the quiet part loud—especially when it comes to how women are treated in sports.
“I don’t want young girls growing up feeling ashamed of their bodies,” she said. “They should be proud of the work they put in—eating right, working out, showing up.”
And if they want to show it off? That’s their call. Not yours. Not the country club’s.
In Happy Gilmore 2, Spiranac makes a cameo alongside Adam Sandler, Margaret Qualley, Ben Stiller, Travis Kelce, Eminem, and a dozen other Hollywood big names. But on Monday night, she didn’t need a scene to steal the spotlight.
She’s already been doing that for years—without asking permission.
