Season 17 newcomer Lexi Love is fighting to hold onto her stage name after an adult film actress hit her with a trademark complaint.
Clair Barnes, the drag queen behind the Lexi Love persona, responded this week after adult performer Selena Scola filed notices against her, Paramount+, and production company World of Wonder. Scola demanded the parties “immediately and permanently cease all use” of the name.

Barnes says the dispute has already cost her work. “I’ve had three venues pull out because she’s sending them cease-and-desist emails,” she told Deadline. “She even posted about my struggles that I shared on the show, including living with HIV.”
Barnes claims attempts at resolution have gone nowhere. “My team reached out, no response. I offered a licensing agreement, terms, anything—but she just keeps reporting my accounts,” she said.
The drag queen insists she’s been performing under the Lexi Love name since 2009. She’s now considering a “Name Me” contest if the dispute escalates further. “She reinstated an old trademark two months after my TV announcement and now she’s targeting my social media, Cameo, and music streams,” Barnes added.
Barnes was introduced to the wider public in December as part of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17. The season aired January through April on MTV.
