Sabrina Carpenter stepped onto the “Saturday Night Live” stage with her usual mix of charm and calculated chaos, turning the spotlight on the persona she’s been cultivating — the one critics call “horndog popstar.”
“Since you’re here, I want to clear up some misconceptions,” Carpenter told the audience. “Everyone thinks of me as this, like, horndog popstar, but there’s really so much more to me. I’m not just horny, I’m turned on and sexually charged, and I love to read.” She punctuated the line with a wink, joking that her favorite book is the encyclopedia — “it’s so big, and it’s hard.”

Carpenter didn’t shy away from addressing controversy either, taking on the risqué cover of her Man’s Best Friend album. “Some people got a little freaked out by the cover. I’m not sure why,” she said. On screen, a zoomed-out version revealed a comedic context: Bowen Yang helping Carpenter up after Martin Short shoved her from the buffet line. “That’s just how they cropped it,” she quipped, leaving no doubt she was in on the joke.
Beyond the corsets, wigs, and staged provocations, Carpenter reminded viewers there’s more to her artistry. She performed hits “Manchild” and “Nobody’s Son,” blending her playful edge with real musicality.

The 26-year-old, who has previously spoken openly about her sex drive and the “horniest girl alive” label, told Vanity Fair she’s “actually a normal amount of horny” — and that she doesn’t take herself too seriously on stage. That attitude was on full display when she launched her Short n’ Sweet tour in September 2024, donning lingerie-inspired sets that drew both attention and criticism.

Carpenter’s response was simple: “Don’t come to the show, and that’s OK.” She called out “the occasional mother that has a strong opinion on how you should be dressing” with no patience for moral policing.
SNL, the stage, the wardrobe, the jokes — it all feeds into a carefully curated image. Carpenter knows what she’s selling, and she’s unapologetic about it.
