Tate McRae capped off her Song of the Summer win at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards with a bold wardrobe shift. After walking the red carpet in a sheer white gown, the 21-year-old singer arrived at Sabrina Carpenter’s official after-party in a stripped-down look: black transparent tights, matching underwear, and a halter top cut from the same fabric.
On the carpet earlier in the night, McRae spoke about the momentum behind her hit “Revolving Door” and her rapid rise. “I’m so excited, I mean this is crazy,” she told MTV. “I just feel very blessed and honored to be here, so excited. The vibes are good.”
The Canadian star also spoke to Entertainment Tonight about her double performance—“Revolving Door” and “Sports Car”—calling the VMAs stage “electric.” She added: “You get to see all your friends, you get to watch the best performances, it’s very iconic, very fun.”
McRae, who is currently on her first arena tour, admitted the schedule is grueling. “It’s been magical… we have 36 shows left, so we’re barely making a dent,” she said. “I’m exhausted—we literally did a show last night in Philadelphia—but we’re getting through it.”
Alongside her Song of the Summer win, McRae scored nominations for Song of the Year (“Sports Car”), Best Pop Artist, and two technical categories—Best Editing and Best Visual Effects—for her video “Just Keep Watching.”
