Singer and actress Teyana Taylor was involved in a tense exchange with a security guard moments after the broadcast of the Academy Awards ended Sunday night, following a dispute over stage access inside the Dolby Theatre.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the confrontation began seconds after the ceremony wrapped as Taylor attempted to return to the stage for the traditional Best Picture photo with cast members from the upcoming film One Battle After Another.
Taylor was reportedly heading toward the stairs alongside Pam Abdi, the co-chair and co-CEO of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, when a security guard moved to block their path.
Sources say the guard used his body to prevent Taylor from going up the steps and placed his hands on her while attempting to hold her back and redirect her away from the stage.
Video captured inside the theatre shows Taylor confronting the guard directly, telling him not to put his hands on a woman and calling the move disrespectful. At one point in the clip, she can be heard telling nearby attendees that the guard had “literally shoved” her.
The moment briefly escalated as the guard continued enforcing stage access, with sources saying he later asked Taylor to apologize during the exchange before the situation cooled.
