Tori Spelling has a Hollywood story few can match: a date with Charlie Sheen that nearly veered into federal territory.
On her misSPELLING podcast, the Beverly Hills, 90210 star recounted a mid-’90s dinner in Beverly Hills set up by a friend. Spelling, then in her early 20s, said Sheen impressed her immediately—“unimaginably intelligent,” she recalled, calling him sharp, funny, and magnetic. It was a “good moment,” she said, one that hinted at a different side of the notorious actor.
The night didn’t stay so polished. Invited to Sheen’s condo later, Spelling said she was greeted with a crack pipe and a room full of bodies. She declined, unnerved by the scene. Soon after, Sheen’s troubles escalated—U.S. Marshals were reportedly searching for him following an assault case. That’s when Spelling’s friend asked her to hide Sheen in her laundry room to keep him away from authorities. She refused.
Sheen was later arrested in the same building and placed on probation, a saga he revisited in his memoir The Book of Sheen, where he noted Spelling’s refusal to get involved. “Tori felt bad for me but viewed my situation as radioactive,” he wrote. Spelling, now 52, maintains the same position: she admired Sheen’s intelligence, but not enough to risk harboring him from federal agents.
