Zara Larsson walked the 2026 Grammys red carpet Sunday night in an ab-baring, mermaid-chic outfit that had cameras snapping from every angle. The 28-year-old was up for Best Dance Pop Recording with “Midnight Sun”, ultimately losing to Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra.”
The glamour turned slightly uncomfortable when two reporters asked if Zara had an acceptance speech ready and whether she was “nervous” about the award—apparently unaware the winner had already been announced.

“You told me earlier this week that you do have a speech prepared, and you’re kinda nervous for the actual moment,” Entertainment Tonight’s Cassie DiLaura said.
Zara didn’t miss a beat. “Now I’m not. I’m chilling because Lady Gaga took it… So I didn’t have to make the speech,” she replied, delivering the line with calm precision. The reporters looked momentarily caught off guard, realizing in real time that she’d lost.
Zara kept it moving: “But I’ll make one for the next year!” she added, eyes steady, tone unshaken. The banter continued, with Cassie noting Zara had told her she was “ready for the next, and the next, and the next year.” Zara laughed: “Absolutely… This is just me soft-launching into the Grammys.”

The interview clip exploded online, racking up over a million views and sparking thousands of reactions. “Zara handled that well, but my god,” one user wrote. Another demanded, “I’mma need that interviewer’s @ cause what the fuck they being messy for???”
Cassie later clarified that neither she nor co-reporter Taylor Hale knew the results at the time. Responding to a comment that said, “Asking if she’s nervous after she’s already lost is insane,” she explained, “Hi! We were live and did not have the ability to know if her category had already been called. Just so you have context.”
Zara walked it off. She didn’t flinch. And the internet took notice.
