Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez are officially husband and wife after a decade together.
The couple married Tuesday in a civil ceremony in Cascais, the coastal town west of Lisbon, in what Ronaldo’s public relations team described as a “private and intimate moment” attended by their five children.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez later confirmed the news themselves, posting a photograph of their wedding rings on their respective Instagram accounts.
The marriage marks the latest chapter in a relationship that began in Madrid around 10 years ago, when the pair first met.
Ronaldo, 41, remains one of the biggest names in world football. The Portugal captain is a five-time world player of the year and recently appeared at his record-tying sixth World Cup for his country.
Away from international football, Ronaldo continues to play for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, who begin their domestic campaign on Saturday.
Rodriguez has been alongside Ronaldo throughout much of the latter part of his career and has built her own public profile as a model, influencer and television personality.
The couple have largely kept their family life away from the more intrusive side of celebrity culture, although their relationship has remained a regular fixture in the sports and entertainment press.
After 10 years together, they have now made it official. No stadium, trophy ceremony or red carpet required.
