‘Did we get off on the wrong foot’: Kim Kardashian charms Martin Brundle

Kim Kardashian turned heads at the Singapore Grand Prix on Saturday, arriving in a baby-pink halter leotard and sheer maxi skirt to support boyfriend Lewis Hamilton. The SKIMS founder paired the look with a matching handbag and slicked-back brunette bun, waving to fans as she made her way through the paddock.

But the outfit wasn’t the only talking point. Kardashian also found herself back in the spotlight after an awkward history with Sky Sports F1 presenter Martin Brundle, months after she appeared to snub him at the Monaco Grand Prix. This time, she was ready to talk, reportedly charming the veteran broadcaster with the line, “Did we get off on the wrong foot?” It was a change of tone that gave the paddock another Kardashian moment to chew over.

The appearance comes as the 45-year-old’s relationship with Hamilton, 41, continues to attract attention. The pair were first romantically linked in February after spending a weekend together at Estelle Manor, a luxury hotel and country club in the Cotswolds. Since then, their public appearances have remained relatively rare, although they stepped out together last month for the opening night of George Lucas’ Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles.

Hamilton has also offered glimpses of their relationship on social media. In August, the seven-time Formula One world champion shared previously unseen photographs featuring Kardashian, while an earlier post showed him spending time with her four children — North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7 — during a family getaway. “Hold your people close 🫂,” he wrote alongside the pictures.

For Kardashian, the relationship follows a lengthy period away from serious dating. Speaking to The Times’ Style Magazine earlier this month, she explained that she had spent five years single following her 2021 separation from Kanye West, apart from her brief relationship with comedian Pete Davidson.

“I wasn’t ready to open up,” she said. “I really wasn’t even thinking about it.” She added that allowing life to take its course had paid off: “The universe works in your favor when you just allow it to.”

Kardashian described the time away from relationships as “great”, saying it gave her the opportunity to focus on her children and professional projects. “I really felt no rush,” she explained. “Like, I really didn’t feel empty. I felt like I needed my time.”

Hamilton’s place in the family picture also appears to be a different proposition for West, 49, than Kardashian’s previous romance with Davidson. In April, a source close to the rapper told Page Six that West viewed Hamilton positively, describing him as a “sweet, smart person, a good person and an incredible athlete”. The source added that West felt comfortable with the racing driver’s presence around his children.

For now, Kardashian and Hamilton appear increasingly comfortable being seen together. Between the Singapore paddock, family photographs and a possible thaw in relations with Brundle, the reality star is making her presence felt well beyond the fashion circuit.
