Strawberry Bree has built a lucrative career by doing something she says many women are encouraged not to do: embracing the body she already has.
The 38-year-old North Carolina creator and mother-of-three has attracted a devoted online following by celebrating her natural curves rather than chasing the ultra-slim look or dramatic cosmetic trends dominating social media. Bree believes confidence, not perfection, is what keeps fans coming back.
“It’s an aesthetic that growing up I was always told was bad, especially if you’ve got some tummy rolls,” she said. “You see these stick-thin models with fake breasts, and nowadays it’s fake butts too with BBLs, so it’s very important for me to stay true to who I am, and all natural.”
Growing up in poverty and spending much of her adult life struggling financially during a previous 10-year marriage, Bree says her success has changed far more than her bank balance. She hopes it also encourages other women—particularly mothers—to stop apologising for bodies shaped by real life.
“I love to show that it’s okay to love who you are as a natural woman who’s had kids,” she said. “My breasts are saggy and that’s because I’ve had kids and I’m 38 years old and it’s okay. It’s normal.”
Her message has clearly found an audience. Bree says she now earns as much as $4,000 (£3,000) a week from subscribers who appreciate her authentic approach. While she’s open about spending around $48,000 (£36,000) on a tummy tuck and liposuction after having children, she says she deliberately avoided chasing the exaggerated look that’s become commonplace online.
Bree believes there’s a growing appetite for more natural body types, particularly among men. “Lots of guys love curves and a lot of women don’t realise that,” she said. “There are people who love the pudge—a belly can be sexy. I prefer the curvy look and love having boobs and a butt.”
Despite her success, she’s still committed to staying active, regularly training in the gym to build strength and maintain her figure rather than dramatically alter it. As a mum to children aged 19, 16 and seven, Bree says confidence remains the most attractive quality anyone can have.
“People are attracted to confidence, not just the way you look,” she said. “There’s a level of attraction that goes deep whenever you’re confident about yourself.”
