Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato are bringing their friendship full circle with a new Rare Beauty campaign that revisits their Disney Channel days. Unveiled on Wednesday, the campaign, titled “Still Making Each Other Blush”, celebrates the pair’s long-running bond with a limited-edition makeup collaboration designed to send a generation of fans straight back to the 2000s.
The centrepiece is the “Delena Soft Pinch Blush Bundle”, priced at $50 and available through Rare Beauty’s website. The name references “Delena”, the fan-created nickname for the two former child stars, whose friendship began long before either became a global name in music and entertainment.
For Lovato, the campaign offered a chance to reconnect with a familiar part of her past. “Being on set together felt like we were back in our old bedrooms making YouTube videos and playing with makeup,” she said in a statement. Gomez described the collaboration as a reminder of their shared history and an opportunity to celebrate the people they have become. “One and the same….always,” she added.

The promotional film draws directly on their early online videos, showing the pair dancing, revisiting old photographs and addressing the camera together. The accompanying shoot takes its cues from Princess Protection Program, the 2009 Disney Channel film in which they starred, with Gomez and Lovato posing in gowns and tiaras atop stacks of luggage.
Their story began in 2002, when they met aged seven while auditioning for Barney & Friends in Texas. Both were cast in the show’s seventh season before moving into Disney Channel projects. Gomez went on to star in Wizards of Waverly Place, while Lovato appeared in As the Bell Rings before breaking through with Camp Rock and later leading Sonny with a Chance. Their music careers developed alongside their television work, with Lovato releasing Don’t Forget in 2008 and Gomez debuting with Selena Gomez & the Scene on Kiss & Tell in 2009.

The friendship has had its ups and downs, with the pair drifting apart before gradually reconnecting. In April, Gomez attended the opening night of Lovato’s It’s Not That Deep tour in Orlando, celebrating the performance on Instagram and praising her friend’s vocals. Lovato has since spoken openly about how friendships can change over time without losing their underlying affection.
“Selena is someone that I’ve always loved and adored,” Lovato told Elle. “It’s really great to be in a place today where we can collaborate on things, but also just hang out and spend time together.”
For fans who grew up watching the two on Disney Channel, the Rare Beauty campaign offers a welcome reunion. This time, the childhood friends are revisiting their shared history on their own terms, with a makeup collection that turns nostalgia into business.
