Skylar Mae is making serious money from OnlyFans, but she says the best part of earning it is being able to spend it on the two people who raised her.
The 23-year-old content creator, who has 4.5 million Instagram followers, claims she earns more than £700,000 a month. From that income, she gives her parents a £15,000 monthly allowance and has gone considerably further with luxury gifts, paid-off cars and a six-figure business investment for her father.
It all started with something far less glamorous.
Her parents were struggling with health insurance costs, so Skylar decided to cover the bill after launching her OnlyFans career.
“They never came to me asking for money. It just naturally started because I knew they were having a hard time paying their health insurance bill,” she said.
“I thought, ‘Okay, I’m going to start OnlyFans and cover their insurance.’”
The arrangement gradually expanded. Skylar eventually told her father he no longer needed to worry about going into the office because she would provide him with a monthly income.
Since then, she says she has given her father around £150,000 to launch a solar business, spent roughly £80,000 on Rolex watches for her parents and helped pay off their cars. Her mother has also received around five designer handbags from her this year alone.
One of the Rolex purchases came after her mother pointed out that her husband had two watches while she had none. Skylar responded by buying her a Rolex worth around £22,000.
“I’ve probably bought my mum five purses this year alone, and I’m currently planning on buying her a car,” she said. “I’ve also helped them pay off all their previous cars.”
The biggest investment, however, was her father’s solar company.
Skylar says her dad is a natural salesman, but his health has made traditional employment difficult. He undergoes chemotherapy that can leave him unwell for several days at a time, while her mother lives with lupus, which can also leave her unable to work.
“My dad is an amazing salesperson. He could literally sell ice to an Eskimo,” Skylar said.
“I try to make sure he still works because I feel like if he didn’t have something to wake up for, he would just crumble away.”
Her goal isn’t to retire her parents completely. Instead, she wants them to have control over when they work.
“I want my parents to have the option to get out of bed or not, depending on how they feel, rather than being forced to work when they’re sick.”
The motivation goes back to Skylar’s childhood in Arizona. Her parents were successful entrepreneurs, but their businesses collapsed as their health deteriorated. Skylar says her family endured around four difficult years while she was in high school.
“If I had never experienced that struggle, I probably would have never started an OnlyFans,” she said.
She also credits watching her parents work relentlessly with shaping her own attitude towards business.
“They would wake up at the crack of dawn and start working immediately,” she said. “Just because it’s five o’clock doesn’t mean work is over when you own a business.”
Now, the tables have turned.
“I don’t technically need to help my parents, but I want to,” Skylar said.
“They worked so hard to give me a comfortable life, and I’ve always taken care of them. Now I’m just able to do that on a much bigger scale.”
