Gabbriette Wore a Deliberately Distressed Wedding Dress to Marry Matty Healy

Forget traditional bridal gowns. Gabbriette made sure her walk down the aisle looked nothing like everyone else’s.

The model and musician married The 1975 frontman Matty Healy on 18 July at Castillo del Lago, Madonna’s former Los Angeles estate, wearing a custom couture gown that looked as though it had been artfully torn apart.

Created by avant-garde fashion house Matières Fécales for its first-ever bridal commission, the white silk taffeta dress featured a hand-pleated bodice, dramatic triple bustle and sweeping train. Its standout detail came from the label’s signature déchiré technique, with deliberately frayed edges giving the gown a distressed, deconstructed finish.

Gabbriette completed the look with a veil by legendary milliner Stephen Jones, worn beneath a towering beehive hairstyle, alongside white satin Christian Louboutin x Matières Fécales heels.

The unconventional fashion didn’t stop there. Before the ceremony, she wore a reconstructed black gown created from a vintage Martin Margiela dress she already owned. Designed by Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran, the look was inspired by Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

“Is bridal always white? Clearly not,” Gabbriette told Vogue. “Bridal is whatever you want it to be. I’ve always been a fan of black clothing, and it felt right using this dress that I’ve loved for so long and repurposing it.”

For the after-party, she changed into a two-piece lamb leather suit trimmed with fur and finished with the same distressed detailing seen throughout the collection, once again paired with Christian Louboutin collaboration heels and a satin riding hat created with Stephen Jones.

The three wedding looks were selected from around 30 concepts presented by the designers and reportedly took more than four months to complete.

Healy, meanwhile, opted for a custom Paul Smith suit for the ceremony. The singer proposed after just a year of dating with a black diamond engagement ring rather than a traditional clear stone, a fitting choice for a couple who have never shown much interest in doing things by convention.

From a shredded couture wedding dress to a black diamond engagement ring, Gabbriette and Healy’s wedding stayed true to the aesthetic that has made them one of fashion’s most unconventional celebrity couples.
