Katie Price has hit back at claims she tried to steal the spotlight from daughter Princess at the National Television Awards, insisting the family only stopped for a photograph together.
The 48-year-old arrived at Tuesday night’s event alongside Princess, 19, and son Junior, 21, wearing a deliberately dramatic outfit that quickly became one of the night’s talking points. Price paired a white shirt with high-waisted lace hot pants, tights and heels, while her hair was slicked back and her eyes and lips were heavily defined with glittering make-up.
The look divided opinion, with some accusing Price of “hijacking” her daughter’s red carpet appearance. Price addressed the criticism on The Katie Price Show, insisting there was no attempt to muscle in on Princess’s night. She said both children had taken individual photographs before asking for a family shot, adding that she and her children had never planned to do interviews at the event.
Price also revealed that she had helped Princess choose her blue gown for the evening. She said she encouraged her daughter to wear something different and make herself “look like a princess”, advice Princess eventually followed. According to Price, the dress attracted plenty of compliments, while she was equally pleased with Junior’s appearance.
Her own look was created with the help of make-up influencer Made By Mitchell, who Price said did an “amazing job” disguising swelling following her latest surgery. She explained that she had experienced hollowness around her temples and under her eyes after losing weight and getting older, with filler also contributing to the swelling.
Price acknowledged that the heavy make-up could look particularly intense under the wrong lighting, but said she was happy with the result in person. “I loved it, and everyone commented about it,” she said. “It’s exactly what I wanted. Mission accomplished.”
The controversy didn’t end with Price’s outfit. Her make-up artist subsequently defended her against what he described as cruel comments about her appearance, while also facing criticism over the shade of foundation used on Price. Drag performer Jay Colby accused him of making Price’s skin significantly darker than her natural complexion and argued that criticism of the make-up should not simply be dismissed as bullying. Price, meanwhile, has made it clear that she isn’t interested in apologising for turning up to the NTAs looking exactly the way she wanted.
