Charlie Forde built a career in adult entertainment, but the Australian performer is now putting her veterinary qualifications back to work for animals in need.
Forde originally trained and worked as a veterinarian before moving into the adult industry several years ago. She remains a licensed vet in Australia and has experience in emergency medicine, giving her the opportunity to return to a profession she never completely left behind.
Rather than simply taking a conventional veterinary job, Forde says she wants to use her skills to support animal charities and organisations that may not have the budget to bring in experienced veterinary professionals. She has also launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the organisations she plans to assist.
Forde says she will cover her own travel and living expenses, meaning donations can go directly towards the animals and the work being carried out by the charities. She has also promised to provide receipts so donors can see where the money is going.
Her first project is scheduled for next month, when she plans to travel to a farm sanctuary in Canada that cares for animals who might otherwise face euthanasia. It is only the beginning of her return to veterinary work, with Forde also planning to take part in rhino dehorning next year, a conservation measure used to help protect rhinos from poaching.
There is an unusual career story behind Forde, but the motivation here is fairly straightforward. After years spent working in the adult industry, she is using the veterinary training she already has to help animals that need it. Whatever you think of her other career, putting professional skills towards a good cause is difficult to argue with.
