Brittany Cartwright was already dealing with a messy divorce from Jax Taylor. Then her former publicist of 10 years started dating him.
For Cartwright, 37, the betrayal cuts deeper than the photographs that exposed the relationship.
“I’m really nervous,” Cartwright admitted as she sat down at her Los Angeles home on July 29 to discuss Taylor’s relationship with Lori Krebs for the first time.
“I’m shaking,” she said. “This person was not only my publicist, she was like a sister to me for 10 years. It’s just complete, complete betrayal.”
Photos of Taylor, 47, and Krebs, 43, getting close at Hotel Mousai in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, surfaced on TMZ on July 13. Cartwright filed for divorce from Taylor in 2024 and the former couple share a five-year-old son, Cruz.
Krebs had been part of Cartwright’s professional and personal life since she was introduced to the couple around a decade ago through their mutual manager, Ryan Revel. She worked alongside Cartwright throughout her years on Vanderpump Rules and continued into The Valley, which premiered in 2024.
“She was always there,” Cartwright said, recalling years of press tours, appearances and Bravo events. Their relationship went well beyond work. They travelled together, spent holidays together and Krebs even helped plan Cartwright’s 2019 wedding to Taylor.
Then came the divorce.
Cartwright says Krebs supported her through the aftermath of her split, including periods when she was living in Airbnbs. She also alleges that Taylor physically and emotionally abused her, claims Taylor’s attorney has strongly denied. Cartwright has not filed official reports alleging abuse.
“She knows every in and out of everything in my life and still chose to sleep with the enemy,” Cartwright said.
Krebs apparently knew the announcement would land badly. About two hours before the Mexico photographs appeared, Cartwright says she received a message from her former publicist acknowledging that the news would be “incredibly shocking and painful.”
According to Cartwright, Krebs said their relationship had changed over the previous few months and insisted that nothing romantic had happened earlier, despite previous rumours.
Cartwright wasn’t buying it.
“I wrote back to her like, ‘What do you mean your relationship changed?’” she recalled. “Then I said something like, ‘Lori, this is so disgusting. This is horrible. You’re dead to me.’”
The two have not spoken since.
The situation became even uglier when TMZ subsequently reported that Taylor and Krebs had bonded over their respective divorces and raising children on the autism spectrum. Cartwright has previously spoken publicly about Cruz’s diagnosis.
“That’s what you’re going to say you bonded over?” she said. “It’s absolutely disgusting.”
Cartwright also claims she had been warned about a possible relationship between Taylor and Krebs two years earlier. She says Summer House alum Stephen McGee told her Taylor had allegedly confided that he had slept with Krebs.
Both Taylor and Krebs denied it at the time. Krebs’ attorney, Michael Kernan, now says the allegation is “categorically false” and insists no romantic relationship existed then.
Cartwright says she was prepared to fire Krebs but ultimately kept her on after Krebs appealed to her as a fellow mother. She also claims Krebs convinced her that remaining as the publicist for both parties could help control Taylor’s behaviour during the divorce.
That arrangement has since become one of Cartwright’s biggest sources of suspicion.
She says Krebs continued asking about her career, relationships, travel plans and The Valley reunion while Taylor appeared to know information Cartwright had never told him.
“She was literally infiltrating my life, my marriage, my divorce, my custody, my career, everything,” Cartwright said. “I’ve never seen a snake like this before in my entire life.”
Krebs’ attorney disputes that account, saying it is inaccurate to describe her work as unethical dual representation and stating that she has not represented Taylor for well over a year. He also denies that Krebs breached confidentiality.
Taylor’s attorney has separately rejected Cartwright’s allegations, while Cartwright’s claims about the couple’s relationship timeline remain disputed.
Whatever happened behind the scenes, the public fallout is now impossible to miss. Cartwright and Taylor’s divorce was already complicated. Adding a former confidante to the story has turned an ugly breakup into something considerably more personal.
And Cartwright has made her position clear: whatever Krebs and Taylor have found in each other, she wants nothing to do with either of them.
