OnlyFans stars face jail as Russia steps up crackdown on adult creators

Russia’s campaign against online adult content has claimed more high-profile names, with an OnlyFans model arrested and another influencer facing up to six years behind bars as authorities widen their assault on the country’s adult industry.

Anastasia Ovsyannikova, 24, better known online as Nastya Kholod, has been detained on suspicion of illegally producing and distributing pornographic material.

After leaving school, Ovsyannikova worked as a model before building a following through adult content, becoming widely known for explicit collaborations with influencer Diana Shurygina.

Shurygina, 27, was arrested earlier this month after police raided her Moscow apartment, seizing cameras, electronic devices and filming equipment as part of the investigation.

If convicted, both women face prison sentences of up to six years.

Investigators have also detained Ludwig Krichker, a 30-year-old German national accused of producing adult films. His home was searched and filming equipment confiscated. All three suspects remain under house arrest while the investigation continues.

According to Russian outlet BAZA, which is known for its close ties to law enforcement, officials are preparing a broader sweep targeting creators using OnlyFans and similar subscription platforms.

The report claims investigators are reviewing social media accounts for adult content and rapidly opening new criminal cases linked to the production of pornography.

Shurygina is one of Russia’s most recognisable internet personalities after first making national headlines in 2016 through an appearance on the television programme Let Them Talk. She has become the first major public figure caught up in what appears to be a wider campaign against online adult creators.

The crackdown extends beyond Moscow.

In the city of Yekaterinburg, another woman identified as Anastasia F. was arrested on similar allegations after investigators claimed she had been publishing explicit material on OnlyFans and other platforms for around five years.

During a search of her apartment, officers reportedly seized a MacBook, an iPhone, sex toys and bank cards. Investigators allege she uploaded content while travelling in Bali, South Africa and the Maldives.

The Moscow Times reported that criminal prosecutions linked to OnlyFans have begun gathering pace as Russia tightens enforcement against adult content creators.

The prosecutions come as the Kremlin continues to double down on its push for so-called “traditional values”, a policy that has become increasingly aggressive since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Legal experts believe the investigation could spread well beyond performers themselves.

Lawyer Dmitry Matyushenkov warned that photographers, producers, managers, camera operators and others involved in creating adult content could also face prosecution if authorities determine they were operating as part of an organised group.
