Sydney Sweeney’s New Lingerie Campaign Is Blurring the Line With OnlyFans

Sydney Sweeney has spent the last few years becoming one of Hollywood’s most recognisable sex symbols. Now, with her lingerie brand Syrn, she is pushing that image into territory that looks increasingly familiar to anyone who spends time on OnlyFans.

The latest example is “Birthday Boobs”, a new collection released ahead of Sweeney’s 29th birthday. Syrn has never exactly hidden its intentions. Previous collections have included “Do What Makes You Naked”, “My First Rodeo” and “Small Town Girl”, while the brand’s tagline is blunt enough: “From Syd’s boobs to yours”.

But Birthday Boobs takes the formula further. Its launch video features Sweeney modelling the lingerie before moving into a series of deliberately provocative shots, including scenes of her topless with strategically positioned birthday cakes providing the only cover.

The accompanying Syrn social media campaign continues the theme. Sweeney is shown licking icing from her fingers, posing beside an open fridge and playing up a deliberately suggestive domestic fantasy. Another image has a bow positioned above her chest as she looks upwards with her mouth open.

There is a distinction worth making here. Sweeney is not simply appearing in sexy lingerie; she is adopting the visual language of online adult content while selling a mainstream fashion product. The result feels closer to the presentation used by an OnlyFans creator than the carefully constructed glamour associated with earlier generations of Hollywood sex symbols.

That shift reflects a wider change in popular culture. OnlyFans creators have moved from the margins into mainstream social media, podcasts and influencer culture, with Instagram and TikTok often acting as the shop window for subscription-based content. The old separation between celebrity, influencer and adult creator is getting harder to maintain.

Sweeney has already tested that boundary. Last year, she sold soap containing her bathwater, while her 2024 Saturday Night Live appearance turned her image into the punchline of a Hooters waitress sketch.

Her recent American Eagle campaign also reignited arguments about the place of overt sex appeal in mainstream advertising. Calvin Klein’s current campaign with Sadie Sink has produced a similar online reaction, although the imagery belongs to a different tradition of fashion photography.

The cultural mood may be changing, but sexy and pornographic are not automatically the same thing. Sweeney’s Birthday Boobs campaign is notable precisely because it shows how much closer those two worlds have become — and how easily Instagram can now occupy the space once reserved for the porn site.
